January 2004
4th Annual Un-Superbowl Campout
Jan 30-31 (fri-sat), 2004
Nehalem Bay State Park

Northern Oregon Coast. It's the fourth year for this popular midwinter event. In whatever weather, from sunshine to snow, the WetWesties always have a good time.

Register: call 1-800-452-5687 to reserve spots on the A Loop (main VW loop from previous Nehalem campouts), or just show up and get what's available. The park does not fill up during "discovery season" so, there should be a lot of room for
everybody. It will be 16$ per night for camping (which includes electrical hookups), better than the 20$ summer rate.

You can also log on to oregonstateparks.org to register for A Loop campsites (note that A49 is closest to meeting hall)

Hot Springs Trip
Aug 13-15, 2004 Highway 12 in Idaho

Several WetWesties and Bus Pilots will be camping on the Lochsa River in Northern Idaho, hiking in to three nearby hot springs. We will be staying at Colgate Licks Campground which is 1/2 mile east of milepost 147 on highway 12, just 15 miles from the Montana state line.

The most strenuous hike would be into Stanley Hot Springs which is 5 miles each way from the Wilderness Gateway campground. Matthew intends to lead a day hike to these springs on Friday the 13th, leaving the campground early in the morning.

The other two springs, Weir and Jerry Johnson, are much easier to get to, and is probably where most folks will spend their time. Jerrry Johnson is just over a mile in from the highway, Weir perhaps a quarter mile, but more of a scramble.

The campground has a concrete building with a pit toilet, but no water or other services, so plan to bring what you need. Back country hot springs are generally clothing optional and nudity is common.

October 2004
Westfalia Acres Goodbye
Oct 8-10th Drain, OR

Removal of Mr Bubblehead from the barn and the official sign taking down and
potluck on Saturday evening. Property has been sold and it has officially closed. I live in the
apartment but the new owners were happy to let everyone come back for a final campout. Sandy
(the wife) even said she might come down as Ron should be hunting.

So if you never made a campout here or you have been putting off coming back down (or up) this is
the official last chance. Arrive anytime, no fees, no real campground amenities but there is a
shelter, fire pit, creek, trees, field for the dogs, good food, and yes a request.......
I have several non running or should be running buses that need to come out and play. they have
to get out of the barn and I need help to do so. I can pull with the tractor (some of you know
that isn't always an easy thing....) to break loose the brakes. but they need to become rollers.
not drivers fortunately!! the Thing has never recovered from the attempted hotwire and needs
something cuz it needs to drive to Washington.

So come one come all. It might rain so bring a tarp. Ihave a Ton of firewood ...easier to burn
than transport!! Bring your own drinking water and if possible potty facilities. There is an
outhouse but it is getting full.......... might take one last campout!!

Please note.... rsvp is not necessary. If you do please email my real address
a451301@access4less.net
better yet call me if you have questions.
360-969-2352

sold the apple press so there will be no cider whether we want to or not....
